Digital IC Trainer with Display
Product Code : SCL-EAE-11161
Quick answer: The Digital IC Trainer with Display adds built-in 7-segment LED displays to a digital logic trainer, so counter and decoder outputs can be read as numbers rather than as rows of LEDs. It has a solderless breadboard, regulated +5 V, +12 V and -12 V supplies, variable clock generators, toggle switches and bi-colour LEDs. Lab Exports manufactures it in Delhi for colleges, universities and technical institutes.

Experiments with the display trainer
A 7-segment display shows a decimal digit by lighting a chosen combination of its seven segments, a to g. Digital circuits work in binary, so a BCD-to-7-segment decoder is needed to turn a four-bit binary coded decimal input into the right segment pattern. With displays built into the trainer, students can wire a decade counter to a decoder and watch it count from 0 to 9 as clock pulses arrive.
- Plan the circuit, for example a decade counter feeding a BCD-to-7-segment decoder.
- Insert the ICs on the breadboard and connect their supply pins to the +5 V rail and ground.
- Wire the counter's clock input to a pulse generator and its outputs to the decoder or display inputs.
- Switch on at a low clock frequency and check that the display counts 0 to 9 and resets.
- Use the LEDs and switches to check intermediate logic states if the count is wrong.
The same board handles the full range of digital practicals: gate truth tables and Boolean simplification, SR, JK, D and T flip-flops, shift registers, and synchronous and asynchronous counters, with the display making sequential results easy for a whole group to follow.
