How the kit is used in teaching
A narrow laser ray shows exactly where light goes. Placed on paper in front of the ray box, each optical shape changes the ray in a way students can trace: a mirror reflects it at an equal angle, a convex shape brings parallel rays together to a focus, a concave shape spreads them apart, and an arc or block bends the ray where it enters and leaves.
Because the rays are visible on the working surface, textbook ray diagrams become measurements: students can mark the rays, measure angles and find focal points, then compare shapes to see how curvature changes the result.
- Place the kit on a stable, clean working surface.
- Connect the supplied adapter to the laser ray box as described in the manual.
- Select one of the nine lens shapes, the mirror or an arc for the planned experiment.
- Place the element in the path of the rays and switch on the ray box.
- Trace the incident, reflected or refracted rays and measure the angles.
As with any laser source, students should never look into the beam or point it towards anyone's eyes.
