How it is used
Unlike a simple spin-down unit that runs at one speed, this mini centrifuge lets the user choose the speed in ten 1000 rpm steps, so the same instrument can give a gentle 1000 to 3000 rpm spin for loosely pelleting cells or a full 10,000 rpm run to clear a small extract or collect a precipitate. The timer stops the run automatically after up to 15 minutes, and the display shows time and rpm throughout.
It is sized for micro tubes: twelve 1.5 mL tubes, with a 0.5 mL option. The brushless motor has no carbon brushes to wear or shed dust, which suits clean bench areas used for molecular biology, microbiology and biochemistry practicals.
